Interior fitment and clearance design

Ford Fiesta Custom Dual Gauge Pod

A scan-based A-pillar gauge pod for two pressure gauges, designed around driver visibility and safe clearance from the opening door.

The challenge

Design around reality

A universal holder could not provide the required fit, viewing angle, or clearance in the limited space between the dashboard, A-pillar, and door. The critical requirement was allowing the door to open and close without touching or disturbing either gauge.

Engineering approach

Used the client-supplied scan of the dashboard, A-pillar, and surrounding door area as the fitment reference.

Positioned both gauges within the driver's view while keeping the housing compact.

Matched the pod surfaces to the A-pillar and sized the gauge openings around the intended instruments.

Verified the design envelope against the door area to maintain clearance through normal movement.

Result

A fit-led final design

The completed model provides a vehicle-specific dual gauge housing that follows the Ford Fiesta interior and avoids interference with normal door operation.
